definitely missing garrett this weekend while him and his rowdy friends "work" at the deer lease.
good one garrett. good one.

anywho, zooey and i hit up some local flea markets and antique stores, and ta-da...

beautiful jade-ite!

i hit the motherload.
a never-been used 8x8 casserole dish, a covered 2 qt round casserole dish with lid, 8 large dinner plates, a large mixing bowl, a measuring cup with juicer, s set of 5 measuring spoons, 3 saucers, 4 salad plates, a covered dish , salt and pepper shaker set, and a gorgeoud bowl with detailing.

all under $150. yep. pretty proud of my new finds to add to my collection.

after our trip home, a little neighborhood jog hit the spot.
oh zooey. you are definitely my four legged child afterall. :)

love her.

peach-whiskey chicken

one of the easiest chicken dishes I've ever actually mastered :)
courtesy of the pioneer woman

we bypassed seconds and went straight to thirds!
make this for your man and he'll love you forever.
garrett told me this is now in the top 3.

recipe:

2 T olive oil
2 T butter
6 chicken drumsticks, skin-on
1 yellow onion, diced
3 green onions, thinly sliced
11/2 cups whiskey
4 cups barbecue sauce
1 cup peach preserves
2 T worcestershire sauce
4 peaches, pitted and sliced

serve chicken over  a mound of egg noodles or mashed potatoes
shamely spoon excess sauce over top. enjoy.

Preheat oven to 300F.

Prep the rest of the ingredients.

Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook the chicken legs until golden brown on all sides, about 5-10 minutes.

Remove from skillet and set aside.
Add onions to the skillet.

Stir and cook over medium heat for about 3 min, or until translucent.
Pour in the whiskey, taking care if you are cooking over open flame.

Cook for 3 min or so, allowing the whiskey to cook and reduce.
Grab your favorite bottled BBQ sauce... and pour it in.

Add the peach preserves, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 cup water to the sauce, then whisk to combine.

Add the chicken back in the pan...

Then throw in your peaches.

Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil, then place in the oven
for 1 1/2 hours.

By then the chicken is tender and falling off the bone... the sauce is to die for... and the peaches are soft. That's when you know it's done!

Serve the chicken over a big pile of buttery egg noodles, spooning sauce over the whole thing. Sprinkle with parsley, then watch your loved ones gobble it up... and ask for more!

enjoy!
thanks pioneer woman for yet another tastey dish.

meet little miss zooey :)

SOOOOO...it's been a crazy couple of months!
with construction of the house, my best friend's wedding, finally moving all my things in with us, (ahem and possibly most into a storage unit), family visiting, major holidays = crazy days at work, and a recent addition to our little family :) we have been SUPER busy.

of course this is what gets eliminated first, sorry. sometimes life just gets in the way.

here's our newest addition and what i am MOST excited about...

meet little miss zooey :)
